Between January - December 2020, RHPDX received 351 hate incident reports. Here are the findings!

Quarterly Report - April - July 2020

Between April 1, 2020, and July 31, 2020, 242 incidents of hate were reported (RHPDX + LN).3 For context, the Bias Response Hotline (BRH) reported 185 incidents between January and May 2020. According to BRH data, Multnomah County had the highest crime rate, followed by Lane County, Union County, and Jackson County.

Police Violence is hate violence - August 5, 2020

From May 30, 2020 through July 20, 2020 - This report presents first-hand testimonials from Portlanders who have been targets of or witnesses to police violence and hate. These testimonials were reported to Portland United Against Hate (PUAH) through its crowdsourced tool called ReportHatePDX, where members of the public can submit hate incident reports.

Updated Cumulative Report - March 21st, 2020

From July 27, 2018, when RHPDX began collecting public data, until March 31, 2020, a total of 329 incidents of hate were reported. For context, the FBI reported that Oregon had 15 incidents of bias crimes reported in 2018.

Portland United Against Hate’s 2017-2019 Report

A driving force in launching PUAH was the need to create a community based anonymous reporting system that communities would use. If we didn’t know the scope of the problem, how could we hope to find upstream solutions?
